Social Compliance and Environmental Programs - Best Practices for Licensors and Licensees

Date: Thursday February 07, 2013
Time: 8.30 am Pacific | 11.30 am Eastern
Duration: 1 hour

Global brands' and licensors' brand reputation is linked to how well they manage and monitor their social and environment compliance programs across supplier factories where licensed goods are manufactured. More and more companies in the licensing industry are re-defining strategies and adopting proactive programs to address the root causes of noncompliance.

Even though licensors have the utmost interest to ensure licensees uphold social and environmental standards, licensees also play a critical role in promoting the same in their supply chains. Licensors not only expect licensees to assess their manufacturing facilities but also ensure that their own suppliers, agents, and subcontractors involved in the production of licensed goods comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and relevant standards, including licensors' codes of conduct.

Join this session with Laura Gitman, Managing Director of Advisory Services at BSR and Sonal Sinha, Associate Vice President of Industry Solutions at MetricStream as they discuss best practices for licensors and licensees to effectively manage their supply chain social and environmental compliance programs. Salient points of discussion are:

  • Manage licensors and licensees expectations
  • Integrate social and environmental compliance into business relationships with suppliers
  • Identify and understand compliance risks
  • Auditing and monitoring supplier's social and environmental compliance
  • Remediate and improve working conditions
