Until recently, cybersecurity and cyber risk have been regulated only at the U.S. state level – but that’s about to change. Last March, the U.S. SEC issued the “Cybersecurity Risk Management, Strategy, Governance, and Incident Disclosure requirements (SEC Rules), likely to be made law in April 2023. 

They are the first time the SEC is mandating cyber security and risk management strategies, compliance and disclosures, instead of merely recommending them.
