Risk leaders and risk management programs are often perceived as performance inhibiters or roadblocks to better business performance. However, in reality risk managers with an integrated view of risks at an enterprise level are in better position to make insightful decisions, and take advantage of market movements and growth opportunities that could result in greater strategic business performance with long-term profitability. Effective risk management programs that are aligned to the strategic priorities of the organization enables risk leaders to act and not react. An integrated risk management approach that focuses on achieving operational resilience can empower the board to take bolder and better decisions to ensure a sustainable performance while alleviating and perhaps eliminating negative outcomes of exposure.
